Smith & Coburn Ltd launched in June 2008 by Glen Smith and Steve Coburn, who between them have a combined industry experience of over 25 years in operations, sales and marketing with an established national janitorial supplier and who believe that understanding their customers is key to the success of the business.
Together with their own expertise, a qualified management team is in place to provide customers with the greatest of knowledge in product placement and that it is essential to recommend reliable, sustainable and professional supplies and the very best quality product for the job.
With our own branded vehicles and fitted out warehouse, we are fully equipped to provide a proactive, personal and adaptable service offering first class customer satisfaction. Next day local deliveries are carried out by courteous and professional drivers in company uniforms using our own branded vehicles.
Senior Management Team
Glen Smith Director, Client Accounts
As the joint co-founder of Smith & Coburn and an experienced Sales Account Director for a national janitorial supplier for the past 12 years, Glen has both a sales and marketing background within the cleaning industry. Having been in key sales roles for the past 15 years since leaving college where he trained as a Graphic Designer, he worked his way up the ladder from a salesperson to Account Director. He has extensive experience and understanding in building excellent customer relationships and is now responsible for all customer liaison and market research throughout the business.
Steve Coburn Director, Operations & Deliveries
Experienced in the field of operations in the cleaning industry, Steve is responsible for the distribution and operational side of the business. Formerly a trained carpet fitter, his knowledge of setting up and running a warehouse is second to none, as he spent his previous 12 years working for a national janitorial supplier, making his way up from a warehouse man to Warehouse Manager. Whilst there he received the coveted title of Sales & Operations Manager of the Year, before discovering a niche in the market for a superior operational and customer led business.
Claire Garner Smith Director & Company Secretary
Having graduated from The University of the West of England in Bristol, Claire pursued a career to work in the City for the UK Stockbroker Cazenove & Co as a Fund Managers Assistant. She then moved to Morgan Grenfell Asset Management (now Deutsche Bank) as a Fund Controller before going to the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi (now Mitsubishi UFJ) where she worked as a Fund Managers Assistant for four years, until she was then promoted to Investment Manager. In this role she was responsible for managing various portfolios of European Equities for Institutional Clients. At Smith & Coburn, Claire is wholly responsible for all financial aspects of the business, including accounts, credit control and purchase ledger.
Amy Coburn Director, IT & Customer Relations
After completing a graphic design and publishing programme at college, Amy went on to work as a Call Centre Operator at National Rail Enquiries. She then progressed to a Customer Service Assistant working for a national janitorial supplier, after which she took on a new position to work at Harlow Hospital through Essex County Council. Amy is proficient in IT and is experienced in most computer and software packages and her company role now holds responsibility for all IT, customer support and retention.
Liz Graveney Marketing & PR Consultant
With over twenty years’ marketing experience having previously worked at Discovery Networks Europe as European Marketing, PR & Communications Director, Liz deals with all branding, design and general marketing activities through Quality Time Ltd. She also co-ordinates all press activity and is the first point of contact for any media enquiries.
Julia Brooks Customer Retention Consultant
Specialising in personal, yet professional approaches to prospects and customers, geared around meeting specific business objectives, Julia previously trained as a nurse who worked her way up to a Matron. She changed career direction after starting a family and set up Contacts4business over two years ago. Julia is responsible for telemarketing and a customer care programme to gain valuable feedback on service, delivery and overall customer satisfaction.
